Kierieklapper Private Bush Camp Overview
Kierieklapper Lodge is a private self-catering accommodation designed for up to 12 guests, situated within the renowned Dinokeng Game Reserve, making it an ideal choice for families or groups.
The lodge features six chalets, each capable of accommodating two guests. Five of these chalets are furnished with king-size beds and include en-suite bathrooms equipped with a shower and toilet. The sixth chalet also boasts a king-size bed, along with an en-suite bathroom that contains both a bath and a shower.
The kitchen is fully equipped with a stove, oven, microwave, refrigerator, and tea- and coffee-making facilities, allowing guests to prepare their meals. Dining can be enjoyed at either the indoor or outdoor dining tables, while the lounge area, which features a television, opens onto a covered stoep for relaxation.
Kierieklapper Lodge operates on solar energy, ensuring it remains unaffected by load shedding. The property is secured by an electric fence and includes recreational amenities such as a games room, trampoline, small gym, lapa, fire pit, braai area, and a swimming pool to enjoy on warm days.
Included in the rate is a complimentary 2-hour game drive with a field guide for each booked day for the group (Only 10 guests per game drive) ; additional game drives can be arranged for an extra fee. Please note that no game drives are available on the morning of check-out.
Guests can also enjoy free Wi-Fi in the living area, and three complimentary bags of wood are provided daily, with additional wood available for purchase on-site.
Our 6 Chalets
The lodge has six en-suite chalets each with a king-size bed and a shower.  In addition, one chalet also has a corner bath.
Our Swimming Pool Area
Our lodge boasts a stunning swimming pool. Surrounded by nature, it's the perfect spot to unwind, soak up the sun and savor the magic of the African bush.
Game Drives
We offer a complimentary 2-hour guided game drive for ten (10) guests for each day booked. No game drives on check out morning. Additional game drives can be arranged at an extra cost.
Sundowner Lookout Spot
Located only meters from the water hole, our lookout spot offers front-row seats to nature's parade. Watch in awe as wildlife peacefully enjoy a drink.
Braai/Boma
Embrace the African spirit around our fire pit. Enjoy the warmth of the flames and the flavors of a braai, creating unforgettable memories under the open sky. Three bags of wood supplied daily free of charge, more wood can be bought on site.
Entertainment / Gym / Kitchen
The lodge has a games room, fitness corner, trampoline, 3 Gigabyte free wi-fi daily and DSTV in the lounge. The well equipped kitchen includes a stove/oven, microwave and two fridge/freezers.

A fantastic weekend away from home! We celebrated my husband's 40th birthday at Kierieklapper Lodge and it was absolutely fabulous! The lodge is beautiful, very comfortable and the staff are very friendly as well as helpful. We loved every minute!
Private bush retreat with breathtaking views and exceptional game drives.  We thoroughly enjoyed the privacy offered by the lodge. The communal kitchen, lounge, and stunning stoep area provided the perfect balance—allowing for social interaction while still maintaining the comfort of private rooms, each with its own bathroom. A highlight of our stay was the bird-watching tower, where we spent many early mornings and late afternoons observing the surrounding bush. It was truly special to watch animals coming to drink at the nearby waterhole. The rooms were well positioned, offering both privacy and beautiful views from the windows. The inclusion of complimentary daily game drives added immense value to the experience. Japie was exceptionally knowledgeable, friendly, and accommodating, which made the drives even more enjoyable. Overall, we appreciated the peaceful atmosphere—it truly felt like we were deep in the bush, yet conveniently close to home without the need for long travel.
We had an incredibly enjoyable stay at Kierieklapper Lodge. Flip made sure we were well looked after and checked in regularly to see if everything was ok and if we were satisfied. The game drives were incredible, the chalets beautiful and the gardens very well maintained. The extra garden games were also a big hit with the family. We celebrated my father's 70th birthday there and it made the occasion very special. Japie and Dora are also absolutely wonderful people. Would definitely recommend!
Calm, privacy, woodland, pampering. The perfect place for bushveld lovers who, as a group of friends or family, just want to relax, socialize and have fun in isolation and privacy. An unforgettable weekend at Kierieklapper Lodge. We recently spent a lovely weekend at Kierieklapper Lodge with friends. Each couple had their own private chalet with en-suite bathroom, while we were still able to enjoy the beautiful, clean and very well-equipped communal areas together, especially around the campfire. The game drives were a highlight: we saw elephants, buffalo, giraffes, blue wildebeest, kudu, impala, red hartebeest and many more up close. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful, and the pride with which the camp is run is clearly visible. Thank you so much for an unforgettable experience—we look forward to our next visit!
Clean, friendly, special. Our weekend getaway at Kierieklapper Private Bush Camp was wonderful and everything was up to our expectations. The chalets and communal areas were all clean and tidy. We were 12 pensioners and everyone was delighted with the beautiful, neat, hospitality and help where needed. Another highlight was all the amenities that were at our disposal. Surrounded by close friends and family in such a peaceful, beautiful setting made the occasion unforgettable. The lodge is thoughtfully designed, comfortable, and fully equipped with everything we needed to relax and enjoy our time together. Whether sitting around the firepit under the stars or spotting wildlife on our game drives, every moment felt magical. The lodge itself and the surrounding garden were immaculately maintained — discreetly and diligently looked after by the hosts, who ensured everything was spotlessly clean and perfectly in place throughout our stay. During the game drives, the host was incredibly considerate and quickly picked up that many of us were keen birders. He made sure to stop in just the right spots so everyone could get a good look and take great photos. The owner was outstanding — warm, helpful, and always quick to respond to any questions or requests. His friendly approach made us feel welcome from the very start. Kierieklapper is more than just a place to stay – it's a place to connect, reflect, and celebrate life’s most meaningful milestones. We couldn’t have chosen a better place to mark this important occasion, and we are already talking about coming back!
A beautiful bushveld breaks near Johannesburg. What a lovely weekend! Dora and Japie looked after us so well. The units were spotless and comfortable. There were little unexpected thoughts that made it just great. The game drives were lovely and Japie went out of his way to make sure we saw interesting animals - four cheetahs and a very entertaining rhino! We will definitely be back. Next time when it's warmer to enjoy the pool too.
Exceptional experience at Kierieklapper. We recently had the pleasure of spending a weekend at Kierieklapper to celebrate a birthday with family and friends, and it surpassed all our expectations. The venue was impeccably clean, well-equipped with potjie pans for baking bread, and offered ample storage for our groceries. The staff were outstanding—friendly, knowledgeable, and exceptionally accommodating. The owner personally checked in twice to ensure our satisfaction, demonstrating genuine care for their guests. As frequent visitors to Dinokeng, we’ve stayed at various camps, but Kierieklapper stood out. For the first time, we were thrilled to see elephants, and although we heard lions roaring each morning, we didn’t spot them. The camp’s serene location by the watering hole is ideal for relaxing with a book or gathering around the fire to share stories. Kierieklapper’s attention to detail was evident in the pristine condition of the facilities and the pride the team takes in maintaining the property. Everything functioned perfectly, and the staff’s willingness to assist made our stay truly memorable. We highly recommend Kierieklapper and look forward to returning for a longer visit. Incredibly positive experience! Would love to go there again. We've been to Dinokeng a few times, but our visit to Kierieklapper stands out head and shoulders as the best experience ever! Friendly and helpful staff, effort with game drives, facilities and attention to detail was unsurpassed.

What an excellent place in nature! It was a wonderful weekend in the natural beauty. Safe and very convenient! Everything is in tip top condition and the bottle of wine was very nice around the campfire!

The 2 game drives were the highlight! We saw cheetahs, elephants, buffaloes and rhinos. Japie made an effort to show us all the big game. There is DSTV, so we could watch the goats win. The rooms have the most beautiful view, are spacious and are very private. The viewing deck overlooking the waterhole was fantastic with a cup of coffee. We can't thank you enough.

The most enjoyable getaway with family, friends and children. Everything is neat and well organized. We received free bags of wood per day. The kitchen and rooms were cleaned daily. Every paid day we were taken on a game drive from which we saw a cheetah, rhinos, lions, etc. have seen It was an experience. There is a pool table as well as a dartboard. The kitchen is well equipped with a pantry. The TV room is close to the boma for those who want to relax. Everything was perfect and help was given as soon as we had any questions. I recommend it to anyone who wants to experience a great weekend. The owner was in contact to make sure everything went smoothly. I haven't received such good service and accommodation in a long time!

Wonderful lodge. So glad we discovered the lodge. What a gem of a place. The Lodge is excellently laid out and equipped with everything you need. The rooms are very comfortable and tidy with the most delicious green lawns stretching out in front of you. All your needs are catered for and the staff (Japie and Dora) were hospitable and friendly. Even if there is loadshedding, it is no problem, Japie takes care of everything. Flip, the owner is always available and the communication is great. Thanks Flip for a great place, will definitely visit again.

Relaxing and peaceful. The game drives were excellent. The place was as described and Japie, Dora and Flip were very efficient and always on time. Japie was very accommodating with drives. There is a generator and gas stove so loadshedding was no issue.

Fantastic! We absolutely love Kierieklapper Lodge. The Lodge is excellently laid out. Bedrooms and bathrooms are beautiful, and very neat and clean. The kitchen, boma area is great!
